TMLA Spring Concert Delights

Among the highlights of TMLA school year in May have always been the Spring Concert and Art Show.  This year’s accomplishments did not disappoint.

The Music department with Glee Club conducted by Mrs. Vanessa Gecewicz delighted with a wide variety of selections from composers Louis Prima, Rogers and Hammerstein, A. L. Webber, Beethoven and others.  The program also included a 3 part selection “Festival Sanctus,” as well as a song from Moana, and Kathy Perry’s “Rise” with its melody and message of peace and unity. The full Glee Club alternated its performance with the Select Chorus and the Senior Chorus directed by Seniors Sydne Jackson and Kristen Talty.  Mr. Tom Cordero assisted with piano accompaniment.

TMLA Orchestra began with music from their Chamber Ensemble directed by Senior Sydne Jackson. The complete orchestra conducted by Mr. Brian Siemers then offered selections like “City of Stars,” Symphonic Themes, music from “The Lion King,” and a medley of 3 songs from The Beatles: “Here Comes the Sun,” “In My Life,” and “Can’t Buy Me Love.”

The combined Glee Club and Orchestra ended the concert with a special performance dedicated to S. Kathleen McKinney for her years of leadership as Principal and her support of the Music Department.
