TMLA Sports Recap
New York high school athletes had to adjust to many new approaches in September 2020 when NYSCHSAA decided to postpone the Fall season due to effects of the current pandemic. TMLA Athletics Department Director Mrs. Ellen Ferguson continuously updated students and parents on the progress of the season with bulletins on home pages of TMLA web and Plus Portals.
Since health and safety of athletes, fans, coaches and staff remain the top priority, the Principals Committee of the CHSAA Brooklyn/Queens Diocese voted to conduct Fall athletics beginning practice sessions on September 21, 2020 as per the guidelines set forth by the NYS Governor’s Office, NYS Department of Education and Health, the State CHSAA, BQCHSAA regarding the approved Fall sports: Soccer, Swimming, Bowling, Tennis, Cross Country, and Softball. Senior Orla Egan was named All-American for her performance in the 2019-2020 Swim season. Orla is the first, two-time All-American in TMLA Athletic history. Congratulations to Orla and her coach, Mrs. Ellen Ferguson and Assistant Coach, Ms. Nicole Mulligan.
Volleyball and Competitive Cheerleading were moved to a Fall II season later in the school year (Date TBD).
