TMLA Junior Wins Poetry Award

TMLA’s Bridget Farrell has been named a winner for The New York Browning Society’s 2020 NYC HS Poetry Competition.  This is the second year that Bridget has won this award.

Bridget claims that her first poem for the competition “Éponine’s Lament,” was inspired by the final lines of Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s “How Do I Love Thee?” and explores the idea of love beyond death.  Her second one, “Goodbye,” was entered into the category that permitted original poems of any form.  Bridget’s poems will be published on the NY Browning Society’s website nybrowning.org.

The New York Browning Society, founded in 1907 to study the poetry, life, and times of Robert Browning and of his wife Elizabeth Barrett Browning, promotes programs that reflect the diversity of the couple’s restless intellects and also encompass Victorian literature and culture.

The NY Browning Society noted that with such a great number of submissions, they wanted to extend gratitude to all the great teachers and their students who made this possible and turned out some great new imaginative and inspiring writers!

Congratulations to Bridget and her teachers.
