TMLA Artists Win Awards

TMLA Art students won recognition in the Scholastic Art competition this year. The work of more than twenty students distinguished TMLA among the group of New York City students who submitted over 4,000 works to The Scholastic Art Awards for 2013.

GOLD KEYS for the most accomplished individual submissions were awarded to Jamela Bazil, Senior; Idalea Cinquemani, Senior; Giana Orlando, Senior; Chanel Rapiz, Senior; Rachel Spampinato, Senior.

SILVER KEYS for distinguished works were awarded to Jalina Boston, Senior; Alexandra Bueno, Senior – (2 Silver Keys); Daniela Carrasco, Senior; Sasha Chinnaya, Senior; Idalea Cinquemani, Senior; Victoria Fernandez, Junior; Brianna Kelly, Senior; Chanel Rapiz, Senior; Eva Scazzero, Senior.

HONORABLE MENTION for students whose work showed promise was awarded to Nicole Alvarez, Senior; Sasha Chinnaya, Senior; Anne Codd, Senior; Tiana Howell, Senior; Chanel Rapiz, Senior – (2 Honorable Mentions); Claire Santoro Sophomore; Judie Zhang, Junior; Melissa Zubizarreta, Senior.

In addition, Harbor Seafood sponsored a logo-design contest in our new Graphic Design class. Senior Melissa Zubizarreta’s design was chosen and won Melissa a check for $500! Harbor Seafood also matched the reward and donated $500 to The Mary Louis Academy.
