TMLA 5K Run/Walk
TMLA’s 4th Annual 5K Run was a big success with over 240 students, parents, alumnae and friends running or walking the hills of Jamaica Estates. This year the Run was named in memory of Colleen Fitz, a longtime staff member at TMLA who passed away in 2016 after a battle with endometrial cancer. All of the proceeds from the 5k Run go towards the Colleen Fitz Memorial Scholarship Fund at TMLA. This scholarship will be awarded annually to a young woman who attains admission but who would not be able to attend TMLA due to her family’s financial situation.
The week preceding the Run was dedicated to educating TMLA students on Women’s Health Awareness. Since women are too often victims of various preventable health issues, it is never too early for students to be aware of their bodies and their health. Each day focused on a different area of women’s health (Heart Health, Gynecologic Health, Breast Health, Emotional Health and Nutrition).[Go Back]
