Student Orientation

ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 28TH OR WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 29th, AT 9:00 AM, ANY SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR OR SENIOR WHO ATTENDED SUMMER SCHOOL IS REQUIRED TO REPORT TO THE GUIDANCE COMPLEX WITH HER REPORT CARD.

FRESHWOMEN

Orientation will take place on Wednesday, August 29th and Thursday, August 30th, Wednesday, September 5th and Thursday, September 6th 2018.

Wednesday, August 29th – Casual Dress appropriate for school.
9:00 AM – 11:30 AM FM Orientation

Thursday, August 30th – Casual Dress appropriate for school.
9:00 am – 12:00 Noon FM Retreat and Barbecue

HOMEWORK

Parents should know that students will receive homework on a regular basis. Please make sure that you provide the time and atmosphere for your daughter to complete assignments at home. It is essential that you contact teachers and follow through on suggestions if your daughter receives a Progress Report during the year. Please feel free to contact teachers at any time for any concerns.

THE SCHOOL UNIFORM

A student should be well groomed and she must be in full uniform each school day. The skirt may not be shorter than two inches above the middle of the knee. The uniform skirt must not be shortened nor the waistband rolled. If your new skirt arrives shorter than two inches above the middle of the knee, please contact the company and get a replacement. The uniform policy, which is in the handbook, will be strictly enforced from the first day of school.

Physical education class uniforms: All students must have athletic footwear with laces and support. No Converse, Vans or other brands of fashionable sneakers. Every student is expected to be prepared for September.

FUNDRAISERS

Walk-A-Thon: On Wednesday, October 31, 2018 TMLA will hold its 21th annual Walk-A-Thon. Every student is required to participate and secure a minimum of $125 in pledges. This is our mandatory fundraiser.

THE PARENTS’ CLUB

A partnership between home and school is vital for the continued success of TMLA. Each parent/guardian holds membership in the Parents’ Club. TMLA relies on ALL parents and guardians to support its activities and to serve as volunteers in a variety of ways. A volunteer sheet is enclosed. The first meeting is Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at
7:00 PM in the cafeteria. All are welcome.

TMLA UPDATE

This publication is mailed to parents/guardians monthly beginning in October. It communicates important information including student achievements and events. Please read UPDATE regularly.

THE PARENT/STUDENT HANDBOOK/CALENDAR

Your daughter will receive a copy of each the Student handbook and the Parent calendar during the first week of school. The planner is for the student and the calendar is for the parent/guardian reference. Please take the time to read it and become familiar with its contents. The policies and procedures in this handbook are binding on you and your daughter. Please sign and return the Handbook Contract by September 14, 2018. Important dates are noted.

LOCKERS/LOCKS

A change for 2018-19 School year – the students will now be provided with a lock for their lockers. These are the only locks that may be used. The lockers should be kept locked at all times except when in use.
