The Arts

TMLA offers a program in Fine Arts with a focus on art or music. Under the guidance of our highly skilled arts faculty, students gain in technical proficiency while attaining a high level of artistic achievement, either as part of their academic curriculum or in extracurricular activities.

TMLA music program has a new recording studio with dedicated practice rooms for our musicians.  The program also uses digital playback technology to simulate professional environments. TMLA boasts All State musicians, an award-winning Glee Club and Orchestra, and a music concentration for performers.

Students in our Creative Writing program present their work annually at readings in local bookstores, and both our newspaper, Mariel, and our yearbook, Crusader, have received multiple awards for high school journalism. Our speech and debate team has been named sectional champion for 13 of the last 14 years and has also won on state and national levels. Second Language students consistently score in the top one percent in National Language competitions.

Students also showcase their talents through Genesians, our schools drama program. Students can elect to take a theater class their freshwomen year that jumpstarts their interest in the program. Students perform a Drama in the Fall and a Musical in the Spring. Genesians also trains its members to work behind the scenes as members of the Stage Crew assisting in lights, sounds and sets.
