Musical Celebrates Golden Era of Women Musicians
On April 5 and 6, 2019 TMLA Genesians Drama Club presented Beehive the 60’s Musical. This production is the celebration of 1960’s female empowerment and the women musicians who made the 60’s memorable. Beehive nostalgically recalls the days of miniskirts, transistor radios and flower power. Told from the perspective of young women who came of age in this enigmatic decade, these young ladies look back on a host of issues ranging from their first Beehive Dance to the challenges the nation faced.
Featuring such timeless classics as “My Boyfriend’s Back”, “Be My Baby”, “Son of a Preacher Man”, and other hits that range from the Supremes’ memorable melodies to Janis Joplin’s heart-rending rasp to Aretha Franklin’s soul and more.
An appreciative audience did not dance in the aisles but many were happy to relive one of music’s truly Golden Eras.[Go Back]
