Spirituality

Rooted in the Catholic tradition, TMLA encourages each student to develop and nurture her own spiritual identity while respecting those of others.

Students in the Freshwomen year begin their studies by immersing themselves into the history of the Sisters of St. Joseph.  This instills a sense of pride in the foundation of our school and provides a tangible connection to the Mission of The Mary Louis Academy.

As students advance in the Religious Studies curriculum, they become more aware of what it means to be a woman of faith in today’s world.  Students are taught about the importance of their faith and each girl is invited to pursue a deeper understanding of various religious traditions, Scripture, and moral/ethical questions.

Students are required to perform service hours as part of the Religious Studies requirement.  The goal is to provide students with an opportunity to give back to our TMLA community and to our “dear neighbor.”
The Religious Studies Department offers a Sacramental preparation program for those wishing to make Confirmation or First Communion.  It is a vibrant program that deepens the faith life of all those who participate. The reception of the Sacraments occurs in the Spring.
The Holy Rosary is one of the most precious and recognized prayers we have as Catholics.  The TMLA community gathers every Wednesday at 7:40am in the Chapel to pray the Rosary.  It is a beautiful way to start the day as a community of faith.  There are other opportunities during the course of the school year that invite all to share in communal prayer experiences.
