application process

The first step in applying for admission to The Mary Louis Academy is taking the Test for Admission into Catholic High Schools, or TACHS.

Our Admissions Committee carefully reviews the academic credentials [6th, 7th, 8th grade report cards and standardized test results] of each applicant together with her performance on the Test for Admission to Catholic High School-TACHS. Though all choices are considered, preference is given to applications that list TMLA as 1st or 2nd choice on the TACHS Examination. One-quarter of a million dollars is earmarked each year for scholarships for the incoming 9th grade class.

Students can sign up online for the TACHS exam. The site that opens up will provide information about the test.

Further information about the Admission Process may be gained by sending email to or by calling 718-297-2120.

We encourage eighth-grade students to make an appointment to “shadow” a current TMLA  student. Call at least 1 week before your desired date of visit 718-297-2120 for appointment or use Email for fastest response –

We invite you to visit TMLA at Open House each October.  Open House will take place on October 15, 2017 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm . If you miss that date, you might like to view our photo gallery – Open House Tour.
