Student Schedules

At The Mary Louis Academy, student schedules are individually crafted within the guidelines set by the New York State Board of Regents. In collaboration with their parents/guardians, students design their academic paths by selecting from Regents, Honors, Accelerated, and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Students are encouraged to consider Honors and AP courses, as they provide a more in-depth educational experience and contribute to a higher grade point average.

All Students

Religious Education

Each student takes a Religious Studies course appropriate to her year. Freshwomen choose between two introductory courses, while Seniors have a selection of courses, including an Honors option.

Regents And Advanced Placement (AP) Exams

Enrollment in a Regents or AP course requires students to sit for the corresponding Regents or AP examination. Additionally, every student is expected to complete the necessary coursework and pass the required Regents exams to earn a New York State Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation.

Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) Courses

Students interested in Honors and AP courses must apply for their desired classes, with acceptance granted at the discretion of the department. Those not enrolled in an Honors course one year may apply for placement the following year.

Diploma Requirements

To graduate from The Mary Louis Academy, students must earn a minimum of 26.50 credits, including four credits in Religious Studies. TMLA students exceed the requirements for the New York State Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation by successfully completing four years of Mathematics, Science, and Religious Studies.

In addition, TMLA offers students the opportunity to apply for Diploma Designations in specialized fields, including Art, Literary Arts, World Languages and Cultures, STEM, Sports Medicine, Religious Studies, American History and Civics, and Pre-Medicine. Each designation is detailed within its respective subject area in this catalog. To receive a Diploma Designation upon graduation, students must complete the prescribed course of study, further enriching their academic experience at TMLA.
