Philosophy
Sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood, New York, The Mary Louis Academy is a Catholic college-preparatory school for young women. We strive to reflect the congregational mission of inclusive love to bring about unity and reconciliation. We are a community that celebrates cultural diversity.
As an all-girls school, we recognize our unique opportunity to help students discover and develop their God-given gifts in an atmosphere that fosters academic excellence and respect. As educators, we provide an environment shaped by Christian ideals that nurtures the whole person by integrating faith and life, while fostering an active commitment to ecological stewardship.
We recognize our partnership with parents and families in developing young women who take responsibility for their choices and value service to their communities.
In a world that can feel increasingly impersonal, we seek to empower each student to recognize and value her unique spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and social potential—and to use those gifts as a leader in today's society.

Our Mission
The Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica Estates, New York, is a Catholic college-preparatory school for young women sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood, New York, and rooted in their charism of unity, reconciliation, and inclusive love that embraces all of creation. In an atmosphere that fosters academic excellence and respect, we seek to empower young women to realize and value their own unique gifts—spiritual, intellectual, and social—and to use their gifts as leaders in creating a just society. We are a community that celebrates cultural diversity and continues the Catholic tradition of service.

Ministry
For more than 170 years, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood have responded to the needs of their time through education, service, advocacy, spiritual ministry, and care for creation. Their work has extended from Long Island to communities throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Latin America, and beyond.
Education has long been central to the CSJ mission. Today, the Sisters sponsor four high schools that carry forward their educational tradition: The Mary Louis Academy, Sacred Heart Academy, Fontbonne Hall Academy, and Academia María Reina in Puerto Rico—with TMLA the longest-standing of the four. Together, these schools continue a shared commitment to academic excellence, the development of each student's unique gifts, service to the dear neighbor, and leadership rooted in faith and justice.
Across their ministries, the Sisters are guided by a charism of inclusive love, unity, and reconciliation. Their mission continues through education, support for immigrant communities, ecological stewardship and sustainability, spiritual ministry, and advocacy for justice and peace.
At TMLA, this legacy comes to life through an education that calls students to recognize their gifts, serve the dear neighbor, care for our common home, and use their knowledge and leadership in service to others.
