Speech team honors :
Team was Diocesan Champions for the 9th time in the last 11 years.
Goals of the Speech Team:
To introduce students to the wide variety of oratorical activities in which the speech team participates.
To afford students an opportunity to develop their public speaking skills in a competitive setting.
To introduce students to qualitative literature - in the form of prose, poetry, drama, and public address.
To teach students the rudiments of parliamentary procedure and the rules of legislative debate.
To teach students to write their own legislative bills and resolutions.
To foster individual initiative, team spirit, and mutual cooperation.
To apply knowledge of oratory and composition to academic pursuits and everyday interests.
Activities: (12 - 15 tournaments annually)
Interscholastic tournaments
Private invitational tournaments throughout the Northeast.
State Championships in Albany.
Annual National Championships.
Meetings:
General meeting every Tuesday in Room 22
Daily practice meetings in small groups.
