Sports Summary 2007 – 2008 Season

SOCCER

VARSITY SOCCER
Varsity Soccer defeated Archbishop Molloy 1- 0 winning the Nassau/ Suffolk CHSAA Class “A” in 2 OT (Nicole Choffel scored the winning goal)

JUNIOR VARSITY SOCCER
The JV Soccer team ended its season in a scoreless tie with St. Mary’s, 0-0. Congratulations to the team and their coaches, Head Coach Kristen D’Amore and Assistant Coach Samantha Cohen on a fine season.

TENNIS



The Tennis team’s impressive streak of SIX CONSECUTIVE Brooklyn/ Queens Championships was snapped with a 3-2 defeat in the Brooklyn/ Queens Finals. Coach Marriane Samothrakis is very proud of her team and looks forward to next season, as the team returns many of its top players.

 SWIMMING



This season was extremely successful for the Swim Team. We came in 4th place in the Long Island Division Championship.  Laurie Casado, Deidre Leong, Keara Leong and Vicotria Ponzo qualified for the New York State Swimming Championships!

VOLLEYBALL

Varsity Volleyball finished as Semi- Finalists in the New York State Class “A”  Playoffs

JV VOLLEYBALL
This year the JV Volleyball team had a very good season and continues to be the foundation for our Volleyball program.

TRACK

 

Track takes dedication, strength, and courage.  All 3 seasons this year from cross country to the last meet of outdoor season, the track teams helped one another and really had an exceptional year.

BASKETBALL

VARSITY BASKETBALL

The Varsity Basketball team ended its season in the Brooklyn/ Queens Conference Semi- Finals. Senior Maral Javadifar was awarded the 2008 Sportsmanship Award.
The team finished with a 14-12 record and benefited from a challenging non- league schedule. Non- league opponents included Regis Jesuit (Colorado- Ranked #12 by USA Today), Notre Dame Academy (Virginia- Ranked #1 by USA Today), Trenton Catholic (New Jersey- Ranked #5 in Tri- State by MSG Network), Rush- Henrietta (New York- Ranked #1 NY Upstate Public School by NY Sportswriters Association) and Archbishop Williams (Massachusetts- 2007 State Champs). Congratulations to the team, including their five seniors!

JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL 
The JV Basketball team ended its season in the Brooklyn/ Queens Conference Quarter- Finals. Congratulations to Coach Arbitello and Coach Elrose  on the first of many successful seasons

Freshmen Basketball
The team completed its inaugural season in the Nassau/ Suffolk Conference with a record of 4-4. Congratulations to Coach Flood on his 25th season as a member of the TMLA Basketball program!

SOFTBALL



VARSITY SOFTBALL
The Varsity softball team started off their season very strong, taking opponents into extra innings many times.  We placed third in Queens with a 10-5 record.  The season ended in a disappointing defeat losing to Bishop Kearney 8-7 in extra innings of the Brooklyn Queens playoffs.

JUNIOR VARSITY SOFTBALL
The JV Softball team had a successful season. With a lot of determination and practice, they made it to the playoffs. They ended the season in third place.  Hard work and dedication in every game resulted in long lasting friendships..

GOLF



The golf team had a successful season.  They placed 5th in the Long Island division and won 21 points by defeating teams such as Kellenberg and Our Lady of Mercy.
 

LACROSSE

The Lacrosse team finished in 2nd place in the Nassau Suffolk JV A  league. In addition to this,  they were also awarded the Catholic High School Team Sportsmanship Award.
