Genesians

The Drama Club provides students with experience in every aspect of theater: performance, production, costumes, make-up, lighting, ticket and program management. Attendance and continuity in performance are essential factors in earning credit. Freshmen taking the Theater Arts course must belong to Genesians as part of their course requirement.


Speech

The Speech Club affords students the opportunity to develop their rhetorical and interpretative skills by competing in such oratorical categories as Declamation, Original Oratory, Oral Interpretation, Dramatic Performance, Extemporaneous Speaking and Student Congress. Each category develops different skills, and students may choose their areas of interest in consultation with the Speech Coach. Attendance at meetings, practices, tournaments and on-going participation are essential factors in earning credit.


Glee Club

This performing ensemble focuses on the study of correct singing technique, music notation, sight-singing and diction, leading to the investigation and performance of a variety of works from the choral literature. Rehearsals are scheduled during the day and after school on Monday and Wednesday. All after school rehearsals are mandatory. Attendance at the Christmas and Spring Concerts is required. Members of the Glee Club may also participate in a variety of performances during the year.* PREREQUISITE: Music 946

The performing ensemble focuses on a more detailed study of correct singing technique, leading to the performance of advanced works from the choral literature. Rehearsals will be scheduled after the audition held early in the school year. Rehearsals take place on Tuesday and Thursday mornings before school, and are mandatory. Attendance at the concerts is required.
Registration will take place after audition.

This performing ensemble focuses on the study of musical styles and forms, correct instrumental techniques, and the interpretation of music notation, leading to the investigation and performance of a variety of works from the orchestral literature. Rehearsals are scheduled during the day and after school on Tuesday and Thursday. All after school rehearsals are mandatory. Attendance at the Christmas and Spring Concerts is required.* PREREQUISITE: Audition

*Credit may be applied to the Fine Arts requirement or to a performance credit for those taking the sequence in Fine Arts, only if the student is registered and attends class within the day’s schedule.
